2000-2001 BUDGET update
In 2000-2001 Covina property owners will pay an estimated $24 million
in property taxes. Retail sales in Covina will generate $705 million.
Unfortunately, there has been no permanent change in the amount of money
the State returns to Covina to provide vital services.
The State will collect $82 million in property and sales taxes in Covinabut
only $9.8 million comes back to Covina for services. The balance of Covinas
$21.9 million General Fund budget, including the Utility Users Tax
portion accounted for in the Street Improvement Fund, will come from:
Utility Users Taxes; motor vehicle in-lieu fees; charges for services
(user fees, licenses, fines, reimbursements); revenue from use of property
and money; other grants, subventions and taxes and $0.4 million from prior
year savings and reserves.
At $38 per person, per month, Covina residents get a lot for their money.
